Musings on...Henri Cartier Bresson

The creative act lasts but a brief moment, a lightning instant of give-and-take, just long enough for you to level the camera and to trap the fleeting prey in your little box.
Henri Cartier-Bresson

The photograph itself doesn't interest me. I want only to capture a minute part of reality.

MoMA and JPG are having a photo challenge!  Photos inspired by Henri Cartier Bresson!  I love his work!  He has sometimes been referred to as the father of photo journalism.  I entered this photo, but it may change.  I have really enjoyed seeing what other people have done on the site.  It is so inspiring and gets me back to the thinking I had when I took photography in college.  I've been a bit hung up on portraits, and portraits just don't give me the feeling of art.  I think I will go out and work on this project a little more.  This photo was of my daughter.  It's grainy and vague...but it was a moment of movement that I just liked the feel of.

Musings on....the guitar

My daughter was playing with my guitar and I just had to take this pic of her.  She almost looks like she knows what she's doing!  I have always said that in my next life I will be a singer/songwriter and play the guitar.  Right now I can secretly wish that one of my girls will pick up the instrument. I always thought it would be cool to be in a band!  Now I take my online guitar lessons and fulfill my fantasies playing Rockband!  Oh.... to be like Sheryl Crow.

Musings on....the town I live in

Today I saw this very funny parody about the folks that live in Bend.  I know it doesn't apply to everyone...but it did make me chuckle.

Musings on .....Dansko Clogs and good jeans

Ahhh....graceful me!  Yesterday I dropped my daughter off at school.  I was walking back to the car and I heard the principal call my name.  I turned to respond (still walking) and found myself splayed out in the parking lot.  I quickly got up and tried to regain my composure.  The principal asked if I was okay, and if there was ice in the parking lot.  I should have said yes.  But no...just me....falling off my Dansko clogs....again.  The worst part was that I put a hole in my Paige jeans and scraped my knee.  I actually don't care much about my knee...but I'm super bummed about the jeans!  I also love my clogs, but I have fallen off of them more than once!  I'm just naturally clumsy...always have been!  There's several stories about my clumsiness that will have to wait for a later date!

Musings on.....pets

I love our pets!  We have a large male Chocolate Lab and a male white cat.  They add so much joy to our lives!  The kids have such a special relationship with them! The dog sleeps with our daughter every night!  Good thing she has a big bed....he's a big dog!  The stinker ate all of Paget's Easter jelly beans!

Musings on...a postcard

This is the postcard that I sent to the Epiphanie Bag contest....which I did not win.

Musings on......micro brews

I had a lovely visit from my aunt, uncle and cousin from Calgary. We took them to Deschutes Brewery for dinner. The place was packed and lively on a Thursday evening. They were able to try some of our great micro brews. Here we are having some Red Chair. We do have some good beer in Bend!
