Duct Tape...how could we live with out you? I prefer black and traditional silver, but the girls LOVE all the cool colors you can get now! My daughter's shin guards are taped with it, her ski poles are taped with it, my other daughter repaired her delaminated skis with it, it was used to decorate a helmet, and I use it on my favorite pair of gloves. I love Duct Tape! Check out this crazy website and also the official Duck Tape site!

Musings on....making a paper bag hat
The other morning I made a paper bag hat. I used large paper grocery bags, tape, and some glue. I cut the bag flat and then placed it over my daughter's head. I squished it around her ears and then wrapped tape around to form it to her head. I rolled the brim, and then started to add leftover paper to cover the tape. I added a branch and then made some blossoms out of scrap paper. Now we have a hat for the Earth Day Parade in April!. I am going to figure out some visual step by step instructions. I really should have been photographing the process...but I didn't. Things that I need to remember for the future!

Musings on.....being rear ended
Such a crazy week. Yesterday morning, after I dropped my daughter off at school, I got rear ended. I was at a stop, getting ready to turn onto my street, and WHAM I got hit from the back. So many things could have happened. Paget or Blake could have been in the car. Bosco could have been in the car. There could have been another car in front of me. I could have been turning and then forced into oncoming traffic. The impact was hard and I never saw it coming. She must have been going 40 miles per hour. I saw grey and my glasses flew off my face. I looked back and saw the other car. I was able to drive off to the side and then I got out to check on the other driver. That's when I realized I was wearing my pajama pants. I never wear my pajama pants...I am always dressed...except for today. She was shaken, but not hurt. Unfortunately her car looked totaled. We both said with some remorse that our cars had been payed off. I think we both suffered the same injuries...whiplash, seat belt bruise, sore muscles, etc. I got back into may car and made all the necessary calls...also I did not want to be standing outside in my pajamas! I worried that the officer was going to get me for not getting my Oregon driver's license yet, but she gave the ticket o the other driver. I'm still waiting to hear about my car. The bumper was hanging off and scraping on the tires. Also the passenger side airbag compartment looks like a Jack in The Box...could go off at any moment. Don't know what else could be wrong. We will see what they have to say.
In the mean time....I'm driving a really big pick up truck!

Musings on......making a hat
Yesterday I was able to attend a lovely morning of crafting with some very talented ladies. The theme of the day was "upcycling" and we used old wool sweaters to create funky and fun projects. I picked up some sweaters from the thrift store and shrunk them in the washer, and then got some ideas off the web. Unfortunately I got the "sick" call from school and I was not able to stay and see what was created. I set up shop at home and created this funky little hat.

Musings on....... html
Aghhhhh...this is driving me crazy. I'm trying to change the look of this site, and it's not working. Learning html as you go is not helpful. Right now, I have managed to make this 3 columns, but now the header photo does not fit! I am trying everything and I can't find the code that controls the size of the photo!

Musings on...the gas light in my car.
This morning the gas light came on just as we were passing 7th Mountain Resort. I worried all the way up to the mountain. Would I make it to the mountain and would I make it home! When it was time to leave, I told everyone that my light had come on and people said they would look out for me if I was on the side of the road! I literally coasted all the way back to Bend! I can't believe I made it! When I got home I found this site.

I just finished watching the "Where The Wild Things Are" with the girls. I was prepared to be hyper critical of my beloved childhood classic( that was written before I was born) but I was pleasantly surprised. I think Spike Jonze did a fine job. Of course, it was not just like the book, but took the story to another level that really hit a chord. At some times it was above the kid's head and at others it struck so close that they were bothered. I know that people either loved it or hated it. The movie brought me back to a T shirt that I have held on to. I went to a Grateful Dead concert with my brother in Vermont. A guy was on the side of the road selling this shirt, and I just had to have it! I still wear it when I work out!

Musings on....Adobe Illustrator

I downloaded a trial version of Illustrator and have been experimenting with it. I've been trying to turn a photograph into an illustration. I've been fascinated with vector images. I don't have the pen tool in my Photo Shop Elements....so it's nice to be able to finally use it. Too bad I have it for 30 days! So much to lean....so little time! Thank goodness for all those online tutorials!
This what I have been working on. It still has a ton of work to be done, but I'm pretty pleased so far!

Musings on....a cool album
When I was at the concert last night, Suzanne Vega sang a new song that could be found on NPR. I checked out the album. Dark Night of the Soul. Very interesting. Danger Mouse, Sparklehorse and David Lynch! They have different artists singing the songs. Waiting for it's release.
Just found out on Saturday 3/6 that Mark Linkous of Danger Mouse/Sparklehorse has committed suicide. How sad.

Musings on....our snowmobile dinner
Saturday night was so much fun. Friends of ours had bid on a snowmobile tour and dinner at Mt Bachelor. We had a full moon and beautiful weather. I had never driven a snowmobile before, so this was a new experience for me! We toured around the mountain and had a lovely dinner by the fire in the Clearing Rock Bar at the mountain. I did try to take some full moon pictures, but without a tripod...it proved to be difficult.

Signing CDs |
Suzanne did not disappoint. She sounded great and was chatty with the audience. I loved that she talked about her songs and gave a bit of the back story. She invited her fans to tweet her with requests for the second set or write their request and leave it on the stage. I'm new to Twitter...so I gave it a try. I did get a response, but later realized that she had sent it out to all her fans. For a moment there I thought I was special! She did play a song about Picasso that is on the NPR website. I can't seem to find it...but I will keep looking. I really liked it. We bought her latest CD and she signed it for us after the show. I gushed that I loved her music and that her album was the ultimate during my time at college as an art major. Felt really stupid after I said that. I did not even think of getting a picture. Oh well! I did snap one when I was in line. She looked so tall in stage, but was much slighter close up. The Tower is a nice place to see a show...very intimate.
