Signing CDs |
Last night I took my daughter to see Suzanne Vega at the Tower Theater. I have always loved her music and her first album was my favorite! I listened to it constantly in college. Her lyrics are so descriptive and it was probably the first time that I wanted to figure out what a musical artist was really trying to say. I had made Blake a CD, so she would be familiar with the music....very helpful. She probably would have fallen asleep if she had not recognized anything! This was a bit late for her.
Suzanne did not disappoint. She sounded great and was chatty with the audience. I loved that she talked about her songs and gave a bit of the back story. She invited her fans to tweet her with requests for the second set or write their request and leave it on the stage. I'm new to Twitter...so I gave it a try. I did get a response, but later realized that she had sent it out to all her fans. For a moment there I thought I was special! She did play a song about Picasso that is on the NPR website. I can't seem to find it...but I will keep looking. I really liked it. We bought her latest CD and she signed it for us after the show. I gushed that I loved her music and that her album was the ultimate during my time at college as an art major. Felt really stupid after I said that. I did not even think of getting a picture. Oh well! I did snap one when I was in line. She looked so tall in stage, but was much slighter close up. The Tower is a nice place to see a show...very intimate.
